Each landscape in Marie Danielle’s collection reflects a moment in time or space that holds a special place in her heart. Marie Danielle’s art is a playful representation of her relationship to nature and her sensitivity to the environment. Rather than representing visual exactitude, Marie focuses on capturing the feeling of being in these spaces through conceptual work in vibrant hues of beeswax. Layering colours and movement in an intuitive mark making practice, the artist portrays the rhythm of bodies of water, land and skies. Marie Danielle brings to her work the meditative state of sitting with oneself in a new and captivating natural environment. Her artworks also rely on a love of being outdoors and experiencing nature. As the COVID-19 pandemic prohibited travel, Marie continued to paint these images from her imagination, allowing her to transport herself metaphorically and experience wonders such as dolphins moving through the waves. This collection embodies connection, between earth and water, earth and people, people with one another and the artist with her art.
