Creative process
Inspired by abstract expressionism and automatism, Quebec artist Marie-Claire Plante creates vibrant and poetic paintings. She has adopted Zao Wou Ki’s painting in silence approach. The canvas becomes a time-space where poetic gestures can settle and rest. Capturing time, its shifting. From the tip of her brush, a new vision will emerge, another point of view, a vital movement, a sentient emotion, fragile yet powerful.
For Mariclair Plante “to paint is to travel into the unknown until you find yourself. I climb mountains and run through the skies, go through ravines and overlook cliffs… I love to feel the joy of painting when I finish a work, knowing that it will go on to summon others towards their true inner scenery!”
